May you believe that this song was close to be thrown out of the new record “Venus de Stilo“?!

– When we were preparing to the record session, we thought about possibility to take one piece as a single – recalls guitar player Wojtek Stasiak. – I mean composition with strong melody, simple form and not too long, “friendly” for radio stations. “Deszcz”/”The Rain” was one of 2-3 candidates. But in the studio, after recording, during editing of the whole material, I was not satisfied by the final shape of the song, as a composer of it, so I started to think about not released it on CD! But my bandmates generally didn’t share my opinion and composition survived.

By the way – do you know which parts of the violins are played by Zuza and which ones by Sylwia?

The first „verse” (till about 29th second) is performed by Zuza. Sylwia has joined her in the “refrain”. In the march section you can hear Zuza again, playing characteristic figure along with the bass and guitar plus expressive solo. Then the rhythm section pulse is back again and Sylwia has begun melodic improvisation (slightly mixed in the half of it with Zuza pizzicato). After that part both violinists have returned to the “refrain”, going together, unisono, to the final “boom”.

– This song is good example of harmonious partnership between this two instrumentalists and absolutely lack of rivalry – points out Wojtek. – That’s how it works in our band.

Now look at the photo made in the ADAM Recording Studio on 4.10.2012. You can see here the one of musicians’ attempt to find the best version of “The Rain” rhythm section, recorded few days before, live, by cajon&cymbals, bass guitar and acoustic guitar. Work in the studio it’s not about playing only – and it is not easy.
